Biography of Milkha Singh is a retired Indian track and field sprinter who was one of the most successful athletes in the history of Indian sports. He is also known as the "Flying Sikh" for his impressive speed and the turban he wore while competing.

Milkha Singh was born on October 20, 1935, in Govindpura, Punjab, British India (now Pakistan). He grew up in a poor family and experienced great loss and hardship during the Partition of India in 1947, when he was just a child. Despite these difficult circumstances, he excelled at sports from an early age and became one of the top runners in the country.


Milkha Singh made his international debut at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, where he won a gold medal in the 200 meters event and set a new Asian record. He went on to participate in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where he reached the semifinals in the 200 meters event.


Milkha Singh's greatest achievements came at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta, where he won gold medals in the 200 meters, 400 meters, and 4x400 meters relay events. He also set new Asian records in all three events.


After retiring from competitive athletics, Milkha Singh worked as a coach and served as the director of sports for the state of Punjab. He was also actively involved in various social and charitable causes, and was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors, in recognition of his contributions to sports and society.

Milkha Singh is remembered as one of the greatest athletes in Indian history and an inspiration to many aspiring sportsmen
